Nouveautés

  • Nouveau bouton « Nouveautés » en haut : les changements de ta version et des précédentes.
  • Nouveau bouton « Soutenir le projet » en haut pour les dons.

Corrections

Version 1.0.29

  • Age of Empires II (The Age of Kings, The Conquerors): you can now load a saved multiplayer game. Create a room in “Load saved game” mode: the host picks the save in the game and the other players join automatically.
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Power of Chaos: Joey the Passion: rooms now have a Normal / Speedy option.
  • Age of Mythology: automatic menu navigation now works in any game language.
  • Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings: fixed an issue where, after playing through GameRanger X, the game refused to start with the message “requires DirectX 6.1a or higher”, even when launched without GameRanger X.
  • Medal of Honor: Allied Assault: the protection of the host’s game from the freeze (grenade and drop-weapon keys pressed together) now also covers version 1.00.
  • Medal of Honor: GameRanger X no longer refuses to let you join because of “different versions”.
  • Lobby list: the nickname of a host or player who stepped away from the computer is shown in grey.
  • Lobby list: when the host changes, the new host appears right away, without Refresh.
  • Minor bug fixes and other improvements.

Version 1.0.28

  • New languages: Turkish, German and Romanian.
  • New game: Dungeon Keeper 2.
  • A Windows Firewall rule that blocks a game can now be fixed with one click right in the room.
  • Medal of Honor: players with different copies of the same game version (for example, 1.11 with different patches) can now join each other.
  • Medal of Honor: Allied Assault: the host's game is now protected from the freeze that happened when a player pressed the grenade key and the drop-weapon key at the same time.
  • Improved security of the game network.
  • Age of Empires, Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings, Stronghold and other DirectPlay games: if the game closes right after start because Windows or your antivirus blocked the GameRanger X network component, you now see what to change.
  • Sign-up: "Passwords do not match" disappears as soon as you correct the password, not only on the next try.
  • Age of Mythology (all three versions): your GameRanger X nickname is now used as your name in LAN games; your previous name comes back after the game.
  • Age of Mythology (all three versions): automatic entry into the game's lobby, for the host and for the other players.
  • You can now delete your account in Settings; clans you own are deleted with it after you confirm their names.
  • Warcraft III 1.26 (The Frozen Throne and Reign of Chaos): automatic entry into the game's lobby, for the host and for the other players.
  • Warcraft III 1.26: your GameRanger X nickname is used as your name in the game if it is in Latin characters and no longer than 15; your previous name comes back after the game.
  • The language switch on the sign-in screen and in Settings is now a compact list with flags.
  • Settings: section titles are centred and set apart from the options below.

Version 1.0.27

  • New game: Links 2003 (Microsoft golf).
  • New game: Stronghold Crusader Extreme, with its own lobbies. Extreme players used to end up in Stronghold Crusader rooms, and the two versions cannot connect to each other.
  • Stronghold Crusader and Crusader Extreme: your GameRanger X nickname is now used in the game. The game used to always show its own player name.
  • Stronghold Crusader and Crusader Extreme: fixed players hanging on "waiting for host" forever when the host's PC is slow. Players now join as soon as the host's game is really open.
  • Stronghold Crusader and Crusader Extreme: players get into the host's game about 15 seconds sooner.
  • Stronghold Crusader Extreme: fixed the client not seeing the running game. No more false "failed to launch the game", your status shows "in game", and closing the game is noticed.
  • Heroes of Might and Magic V: Tribes of the East: fixed players on different networks not seeing each other's games in "Local Network".
  • Heroes of Might and Magic V: Tribes of the East: your GameRanger X nickname is now used in the game.
  • Heroes of Might and Magic V: Tribes of the East: players now wait until the host has created the room and only then start the game.
  • Heroes of Might and Magic V: Tribes of the East: the intro videos are skipped.
  • Heroes of Might and Magic V: Tribes of the East: the game closes right away when the host clicks "Abort Game".
  • Heroes of Might and Magic V: Tribes of the East: fixed the original Heroes V (which cannot play with Tribes of the East) being taken for this game.
  • Battle for Middle-earth II: Rise of the Witch-king: fixed a host with a mod (such as Realms in Exile) getting stuck on "waiting for the host".
  • Fixed an empty lobby staying in the list after the host left or lost the connection. The room now goes to a player who is online, or is removed.
  • Fixed the game starting without a network when your antivirus or Windows did not let GameRanger X connect to it. In that case the game no longer starts; if it happens to the host, the start is cancelled for everyone and players no longer wait forever.
  • Fixed the connection to the host dropping when you moved to another room.
  • If the host does not connect to you, you now connect to the host yourself instead of waiting for "connection timeout".
  • Fixed players in a room losing the connection to each other when the host stopped the game before the match began.
  • Players who have just joined a lobby connect faster.
  • New "My games" filter: it shows only lobbies of games installed on your PC.
  • The room info shows which players are in the game, which are waiting and which are offline.
  • Chats: fixed the "typing..." line covering the last message.
  • Every chat has a button to jump to the latest messages.
  • New messages no longer scroll the chat down while you are reading older ones.
  • Fixed direct messages sent to a friend during a game arriving out of order.
  • Fixed the unread counter disappearing from the taskbar button, including after the window came back from the tray.
  • Chat in the right panel: scrolling up loads older messages, as on the Messages page.
  • The right panel switches straight to another conversation when one is already open.
  • While a chat is open in the right panel, your online friends are shown next to it with their unread counters, so one click switches the conversation.
  • Pick separate colors for other players' messages in lobby chat and in private chats (Settings > Message colors), with a preview.
  • A lobby room has a new button that hides or shows the game's picture.
  • The room status bar (game launched, starting, waiting for the host) and the firewall warning are now easy to read over the picture.
  • In a room with a game picture, the host's Settings tab is easier to read and the chosen options are clearly visible.
  • Light theme: fixed the background picture being covered by a white haze.
  • Minor bug fixes.

Version 1.0.26

  • Age of Empires III, The WarChiefs and The Asian Dynasties: after Start the game's menus are passed for you.
  • Age of Empires III: your GameRanger X nickname is used in the game; if you have no game profile yet, one is created for you.
  • After your PC wakes from sleep, the client reconnects by itself within seconds and the lobby list updates.
  • Medal of Honor: you can no longer join a host who has a different version of the game - this used to freeze the game for everyone in the room.
  • Side menu: the selected item has a violet frame.
  • Lobby rooms of C&C Generals Zero Hour and Stronghold Crusader have their own look.
  • If your antivirus removes a GameRanger X component needed to start games, the client restores it and tries again; if it is taken again, you are told how to add an antivirus exclusion.
  • C&C Generals / Zero Hour: when Windows blocks the game's settings in Documents (Controlled folder access or OneDrive), the message says what to change instead of "Failed to launch game".
  • C&C Generals / Zero Hour: a clear message when security software stops GameRanger X from connecting to the game.
  • Minor bug fixes and improvements.

Version 1.0.25

  • A new client design, a background picture behind the whole client (switch it off in Settings > Account) and a redesigned sign-in screen.
  • The lobby list is one table now: sort it by players or ping by clicking the column header. It also shows the host's country flag.
  • See when someone is typing in direct messages, clan chat and lobby chat.
  • New game: Yu-Gi-Oh! Power of Chaos: Joey the Passion (2 players). After Start the game's menus are passed for you - the host gets to the waiting screen, the other player joins the host's duel.
  • The lobby chat input no longer hides under the "Game launched" bar while a game is running.
  • Minor bug fixes.

Version 1.0.24

  • Battle for Middle-earth, BFME II and Rise of the Witch-king: after Start the host's game is created and the other players join it by themselves - no clicking through the menus.
  • Battle for Middle-earth, BFME II and Rise of the Witch-king: your GameRanger X nickname is used in the game's network lobby.
  • Battle for Middle-earth: the long intro movie no longer plays.
  • Chat in the side panel: you can delete your own message, as on the Messages page.
  • The update window shown at start can be closed with "Later" unless the update is required.
  • The "Wake up" button in a lobby plays its trumpet sound again.
  • Minor bug fixes.

Version 1.0.23

  • Lobby list: the ping is better and steadier.
  • Chat: explicit images are now blocked or blurred.
  • Fixed connections through the relay server failing after the lobby list was open for a long time.
  • Minor bug fixes and better stability.

Version 1.0.22

  • Lobby list: before joining, you now see your direct ping to the host of every public lobby.
  • Games: genre filters with game counts, a redesigned game page, and the "Installed" label and Play button are easy to see on any cover.
  • Chat: choose the text size in Settings > Account (Small, Normal, Large, Extra large).
  • Chat: several images in one message now form a neat grid, and the input box lines up with its buttons.
  • Minor bug fixes and better stability.

Version 1.0.21

  • Added two new languages: Spanish and Portuguese (Portugal).
  • Improved ping: it is now about half of what it was.
  • Medal of Honor: you can join a room while the game is already running — click Join to enter the host's game. The host can also start a game alone.
  • Fixed connection problems when many players are online.
  • Menus, right-click menus, filters and tooltips no longer flicker when they open or close.
  • The network panel shows only the measured NAT behaviour, without guesses about P2P readiness.

Version 1.0.20

  • Switching to another page during a match no longer restarts the network or the game.
  • The client now keeps track of a running game while it is minimized or behind the game window, so the room returns to normal once everyone leaves the match.
  • Room names in the lobby list no longer cut off the bottom of letters.
  • Right-click menus open without a flicker.
  • The left menu has even spacing again, and the selected item is no longer cut off at the window edge.

Version 1.0.19

  • Add Light theme: choose Dark or Light in Settings > Account.
  • Refreshed dark theme: a softer graphite background, easier-to-read secondary text, raised buttons and menus.
  • Premium nicknames now shimmer with a running glint on every tier, including Silver and Gold.
  • A room can no longer be made bigger than the number of players its game supports.
  • Lobby names with the shake effect are no longer cut off at the edges.
  • Profile social links: a Discord username no longer opens a broken web page; clicking it copies the username, and Twitch, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook names open the right profile.
  • Private chats: click the player's name or avatar in the chat header to open their profile.
  • The host can no longer end a running match for everyone; after the first 90 seconds the host button only leaves the game.

Version 1.0.18

  • Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, Spearhead and Breakthrough are now supported.
  • C&C Generals: automatic menu clicks performance has been improved.
  • Battle for Middle-earth: playing several games in a row no longer slows the client down or breaks the next game's connection.
  • Age of Empires III, Age of Mythology and Warcraft III: players find the host's game reliably on PCs with several network adapters (VPN, Wi-Fi and cable at once).
  • Warcraft III: if Windows has reserved the game's network port (often after installing Hyper-V, WSL or Docker), the client now explains how to fix it instead of the game failing to host or join.
  • Fixed a network loop in Age of Empires III and Age of Mythology rooms that could flood the connection with repeated game search packets.
  • Improved security of the game network: it now carries only game traffic between players.
  • The ping shown in the lobby has been improved.
  • The virtual network no longer needs the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable to be installed.
  • The installer now tells you right away that Windows 10 or newer is required.
  • In the room password window the cursor is already in the password field.
  • Leaving a room no longer puts you back into it a moment later.
  • If your game could not start after the host started the match, the room now returns to normal once the other players leave the game, instead of staying stuck on "Game launched".
  • Leaving a room right after a game ends no longer makes your client keep trying to connect to players of that closed room, and the next room connects without a 20-second delay.
  • Opening a game in the Games list no longer signs you out.
  • Logging out now asks for confirmation first.
  • The chat file picker shows only images, and other files you drop or paste are refused with a message instead of being ignored.
  • You can copy a chat image to the clipboard from the image viewer or by right-clicking it.
  • Clicking a quoted reply takes you to the original message.
  • Animated GIF profile and clan banners now stay animated for Platinum members.
  • If your antivirus blocks a GameRanger X component, the launch error now says so and tells you how to fix it.
  • The update window warns you when a game is running, because updating restarts GameRanger X and drops you from the match.
  • Lobby and friend cards no longer flicker when the pointer is at their edge.
  • GameRanger X no longer creates settings folders for Battle for Middle-earth and Generals Zero Hour when those games are not installed.

Version 1.0.17

  • You can now send screenshots and images in lobby, private, clan and support chats: paste with Ctrl+V, drag a file in or use the clip button. Images you have not sent yet stay in the chat, like unsent text.
  • Czech language: the whole app, the tray menu, the terms and the privacy policy are available in Czech.
  • More of the app follows your language: game details, dropdowns, loading screens, notifications, server messages, lobby and voice chat notices, dates, numbers and country names.
  • Games now reconnect through our relay server when a direct connection to a player gets stuck.
  • The lobby warns when Windows Firewall blocks your game, with steps to fix it and a "Check again" button.
  • Avatars, profile banners and clan logos show up again.
  • Chat and the friends list show the real online status and "last seen" time.
  • When the host leaves, the lobby no longer keeps the previous host's premium name styling or stream links.
  • The "administrator rights required" hint now appears when the virtual network cannot start for lack of rights.

Version 1.0.16

  • Army Men RTS is now supported.
  • Players who have left a room no longer show up in its connection panel, and the Start game button no longer counts them as ready.
  • A friend coming back from "Away" no longer triggers the "is now online" notification.

Version 1.0.15

  • C&C Generals / Zero Hour: the game now goes through the menus by itself - the host's room is created and the other players join it automatically (please don't move the mouse while it does). The game also starts faster without the GenTool window and the start-up videos, your graphics settings such as screen resolution are no longer reset to 800x600, and the host's game no longer crashes when it is started a second time in a row.
  • After a match, the Start game button now waits until every player has reconnected instead of being clickable too early.
  • The connection bars in the lobby list now reflect real connection quality instead of showing red for almost every lobby.
  • Plus several smaller bug fixes in the client.

Version 1.0.14

  • A green counter on the Friends icon shows how many of your friends are online.
  • The installer no longer runs PowerShell, which should make false virus warnings from Windows Defender less likely.
  • The taskbar and desktop icons of GameRanger X no longer turn blank right after an update.

Version 1.0.13

  • Pressing Start alone in a lobby now tells you to wait for another player, instead of launching a game nobody can join.
  • Replies from support to your bug reports now appear in Messages, even if they arrive while you are offline.
  • The network (NAT) type in the side panel is detected again on computers where the internet connection prefers IPv6.

Version 1.0.12

  • GameRanger X now has an installer for 32-bit Windows 10.
  • Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos is now a separate game from The Frozen Throne (classic patches 1.26–1.27).
  • The desktop shortcut no longer shows a blank icon right after an update.

Version 1.0.11

  • Warcraft III, Age of Mythology, Age of Empires III, Heroes III and The Battle for Middle-earth start again on computers without the Microsoft Visual C++ runtime installed.
  • Starting a Battle for Middle-earth game alone now tells you that another player is needed, instead of waiting and then failing to connect.

Version 1.0.10

  • Warcraft III starts again when the game's path was saved with forward slashes, and Warcraft III 1.28 and newer, which have no war3.exe, start from the file you chose.

Version 1.0.9

  • Age of Empires III and Age of Mythology, every edition: players whose Wi-Fi or Ethernet took priority over the GameRanger X adapter can join a game again - the host never saw them searching, so their lobby stayed empty.
  • The in-room hints on how to create or join a game show arrows again instead of garbled characters, and a few other English texts lost their broken symbols too.
  • Translations are fixed across the app: texts that did not follow the language you chose - GenTool status in Generals rooms, the Expand button on the Premium page and others - are now translated, and a few places that showed technical names instead of text now show proper wording.
  • The text formatting button in chats has a clear label and a letter icon, so it no longer looks like a way to attach files.
  • If Windows Firewall holds a rule that blocks a game from receiving data, you are told which rule it is when the game starts, instead of sitting in a lobby where nobody ever appears. The game is also allowed through the firewall automatically the first time it runs.
  • The app's taskbar button shows how many unread messages and notifications you have.
  • The lobby list shows how many players are in each game as people join and leave, instead of the number it had when you opened it.
  • The blinking text cursor that stood in any text you clicked is gone for good.
  • A player in invisible mode stays invisible in the lobby chat: their name no longer shows their tier or admin colour, and hovering it no longer reveals who they are. Messages written while invisible stay that way after invisible mode is turned off.
  • Pages and tabs no longer flicker: the lobby list and the game library no longer blank out on every visit, tabs switch instantly, and lists and pages appear at once instead of piece by piece.
  • The welcome tour switches slides smoothly instead of flashing an empty card, and its pictures no longer pop in late.
  • Messages in the side chat panel show one tick when sent and two when read, like on the Messages page.
  • While you wait for the host to load a game, you can now leave with the Abort button, and come back with Join.
  • In a narrow window the side menu folds itself up to leave room for the page, and whether you keep it folded on a wide screen is remembered.
  • In a small window: the side menu scrolls instead of hiding its bottom buttons, Settings no longer cuts off its section names, the message box in chats is no longer squeezed to a sliver, and the lobby chat always keeps room for messages.

Version 1.0.8

  • Stronghold lobbies hold 8 players instead of 4, which is what the game itself supports.
  • The button to get back into a running game now says "Join" instead of "Login".
  • The country window can be left: a new "Use another account" button signs you out, so picking the wrong account at sign-in is no longer a dead end. The close cross that did nothing is gone.
  • F5 no longer reloads the app, F3 no longer opens a search bar over it, and the blinking text cursor no longer appears in ordinary text (it came from F7).
  • Shift+Enter starts a new line in the message box, and messages keep their line breaks.
  • A message you started typing is still there when you come back from another chat.
  • Voice chat now says why the microphone is unavailable — blocked, missing or busy in another program — and what to do about it, instead of just doing nothing.
  • Denying the microphone once no longer breaks voice chat for good, and voice falls back to the default microphone when the one you picked is unplugged.
  • Emoji no longer disappear when their images cannot be downloaded: the plain emoji is shown in place of the animated one — in messages, in the message box and in the picker — with no broken-image icon next to it.
  • Updating is no longer optional: when the app starts and a new version is there, it is installed before you carry on. If the update itself cannot be fetched, the app still opens.
  • In Arabic the interface is laid out right to left the way it should be: padding and borders sit on the correct side, badges and panels are on the correct edge, arrows point the right way, and letters are no longer pulled apart in nicknames.

Version 1.0.7

  • Under the other person's name in a conversation you can see when they were last online, instead of a plain "Offline".
  • Aborting a game now reaches the server: the other players are told to quit, and the false "Failed to abort the game" error no longer appears.
  • The sticker window is no longer cut off: in clan chat only a narrow strip with a single sticker was visible.
  • The profile no longer flickers: the client was re-requesting the account in a loop.
  • The client no longer flickers after signing in with Google or Discord: the window was reloading in a loop.
  • Age of Empires 1: Rise of Rome - players connect to the host's game when the router supports UPnP.
  • The connection to other players no longer drops when you move quickly from one lobby to another.
  • Age of Empires 1 and 2: the second player joins the host's game almost at once, instead of the old wait of about 15 seconds.
  • Age of Empires 2 (original): the game no longer crashes on launch and players connect to the host's game.
  • Stronghold Crusader: players connect to the host's game again when the router supports UPnP.
  • Age of Empires: players connect to the host's game again, instead of an endless "Searching for session" window.
  • Age of Empires launches on its own again: the client no longer leaves a helper file in the game folder that got in the way of a normal launch.
  • The connection to other players in a lobby no longer drops about once every half a minute: no more rejoining several times.
  • Age of Empires 1 starts for the host again: the game no longer closes by itself a few seconds after being created.
  • In Age of Empires 1 players find the host's game and join it again.
  • In Warcraft III players see the host's game again: their lobby used to stay empty.
  • When the host aborts the game, Warcraft III now closes for every player, not only for the host.
  • If the game is already running, "Start game" now warns and asks you to close it - before, the launch silently did nothing.
  • A conversation opens at the latest messages again, including when you return to one where nothing new has arrived.
  • A conversation is no longer empty when you leave it and come straight back.
  • The whole history of a conversation is available: older messages load as you scroll up. Before, only the last 50 were shown.
  • Windows and dropdowns no longer flicker as they open and close.
  • The game picker in lobby creation now has search, and the list is taller.
  • Games that could not be launched were removed from the picker.
  • Dates and times are shown in the language of the interface.
  • Diagnostics are sent automatically only when a game fails to start, crashes, or players cannot connect. Ending or aborting a game no longer sends anything.
  • Reports sent by hand from Help are stored separately from the automatic ones.

Version 1.0.5

  • Sidebar chat no longer shuffles messages when you switch tabs and come back.
  • New unread badge on the sidebar chat icon when a direct message arrives.
  • "Play" button on the Games page now opens the lobby list filtered to that game.

Version 1.0.4

  • Lobby description length increased from 35 to 45 characters.

Version 1.0.3

  • Bug fixes.

Version 1.0.2

  • Command & Conquer: Generals Zero Hour: joining a room is more reliable for players with an unstable connection or a VPN. The host now repeats the key room announcements, so a joining player is less likely to miss the room.

Version 1.0.1

  • Fixed a room connection error in Command & Conquer: Generals Zero Hour. The game now starts only once the network channel is fully ready, so other players reliably find the host.
  • Help requests now include the logs of the in-game network module, so connection problems are sorted out faster.

Version 1.0.0

  • 🎉 GameRanger X 1.0 is officially launched!
